The Manager of Human Resources (HR) plans, organizes and manages the HR functions, operations and responsibilities, including all supervisory activities, related to staffing, work assignments, hiring, termination, performance reviews, orientation and professional development
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Ensures that HR Services are provided in compliance with established policies, procedures and practices.
Serves as internal frontline support responding to inquiries from staff, managers and leadership regarding HR processes, policies and procedures. Serves as the primary contact for staff relations issues, addressing staff complaints, issues and policy violations in a timely manner and in accordance with established disciplinary policies and procedures.
Plans and facilitates new-hire orientation introducing new employees to the organization, culture and business processes.
Partners with department leadership to assist with goal planning, actions plans and ways to improve employee morale.
Partners with department leadership to work on recruitment strategy for hard to fill positions, providing guidance and resolution.
Works with department leadership to ensure department employee files are completed correctly and maintained; conducts audits as needed to ensure compliance and reports metrics to leadership.
Serves as a trainer for management by educating them on HR systems and policy interpretation; ensures all required training for both staff and management are completed by running reports and conducting audits.
Participates on multiple cross-functional projects providing HR guidance and knowledge and ensuring compliance with system policies and procedures.
Facilitates communications to staff and encourages participation in staff engagement activities and events.
Performs HR related activities to include interviewing, making hiring recommendations, orienting, evaluating, coaching, team building activities, and if necessary, assisting with disciplinary actions.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred.
HR Manager experience can include HR Generalist experience.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Understanding of HR laws and regulations.
Project management and implementation skills.
Formal managerial and leadership training preferred
